Getting To Know The Staff
We will publish interviews conducted with members of staff in the school to help you get to know them a bit better. We will start with our English and History teacher, Mr Paul McCormack
The questions were compiled by 4 Iveagh and the interview was conducted in class.
- Do you have any phobias?
PMC Yes, I have a fear of people who are lazy, they drive me absolutely mad!
- What do you do after school?
PMC I like to run and cycle after school as well as reading books, watching movies and being with my family.
- Did you have any jobs before teaching?
PMC Yes in fact I had many jobs. I have been an lounge boy in a pub, a kitchen porter, I have worked in multiple factories, I was the fish fryer at Harry Ramsdens, I was a merchandizer, a model (J), a writer and the hardest one of all, I am a parent.
- What is your favourite topic to teach?
PMC I much prefer teaching History over English. My favourite topic in English is probably poetry because all of the students think it would be boring but when they all start it they all tend to love it.
- What is your favourite year group to teach?
I love teaching the third years because of how much I get to teach them in just one year.
- What is your favourite movie?
PMC My favourite movie is Cinema Paradiso.
- Who is your favourite member of staff besides yourself?
PMC My favourite has to be Ms Roe mostly because of how much I respect her.
- What motivates you to continue being a teacher?
PMC I simply love my job and the material I get to teach.
- What is your favourite word?
PMC My favourite word is probably Oxymoron but superfluous is a close second.
- What is a fact about you that is not commonly known?
I did Ordinary Level English for my Inter Cert, but went on to do Higher Level at Leaving Cert.
- What is your favourite childhood memory?
PMC It has to be my confirmation day because my father was there with me. He had been was very ill at the time.
