All Ireland
For a small school we have been extraordinarily successful in football tournaments over the last few years.
The Brunner claimed All Ireland glory for their first time in the school's history, in dramatic fashion, on the 4th of March 2020 against an excellent Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh side in the RSC grounds in Waterford.
After conceding an early goal, St Paul's fought hard and went into the second half as 2-1 leaders. An early dismissal in the second half reduced the Brunner to 10 men. To make matters worse Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh found an equalizer within a few minutes.
The Brunner fired home the perfect response, again going ahead 3-2. A superb penalty save was needed to rescue an exhausted 10 men.
In the dying stages the Gaelcholaiste 11 were unable to find another goal through a stone wall Brunner defence.
In the last minute of injury time St Paul's secured the title with another goal, wrapping up a 4-2 victory and helping them to lift their first All Ireland title.
Spring League Cup
With the retirement of legendary football manager Mr. Smyth, it was left to his co pilots Mr. Geraghty and Mr. McCabe to secure a title at the return of school's football since the pandemic caused the cancellation of the previous year. Winning both group games with ease, the Brunner took part in a dramatic semi final. It took two injury time goals to eliminate a deficit and turn the game into a win. St. Pauls were in total control in the final leading 5-0 at half time and finishing the game 6-1. It was especially poignant that the majority of Brunner players who finished that game were part of the All Ireland winning team in 2020. They departed the school with yet another trophy to their name.
