Our Library is a warm and welcoming, exciting and dynamic learning space. The library is specifically run to improve both literacy and numeracy levels and to help enhance the learning experience of our JCSP students. However, it is an important resource for and accessible to all of our students and we also make it available for use by the students of St Paul’s CBS Primary School.
It is stocked with a wide variety of carefully chosen books and resources designed to entice and engage both the reluctant and the enthusiastic teenage reader. There is an established programme of library-based projects and the library regularly plays host to a diverse range of visitors including storytellers, authors, illustrators, film-makers, dancers, musicians and many more.
Reading and writing skills are developed; reading habits encouraged and the research skills required to participate in education are developed. Numeracy skills are also actively promoted, developed and nurtured.
There is also a well stocked teacher resource area providing materials for use with small group and whole class instruction.
Our library contains a collection of the following
- Books – fiction, non-fiction and reference
- Audio books
- DVDs – educational and recreational
- CD-ROMS
- Board Games
- Magazines
- Daily Newspapers
